the Melbourne Cricket
Ground which is the home
of cricket during the summer and during the winter it becomes the headquarters
of the
Australian Football League (AFL and often referred to as "Australian Rules" football) .
Historic sites abound such

Como Homestead overlooking the river in South Yarra, Captain Cook's cottage in Fitzroy Gardens
and also Ripponlea near St Kilda. Anyone interested in
seeing where Ned Kelly, Australia's most famous bushranger, met his end,
will no doubt visit the Old
Melbourne Gaol
The Werribee Park Zoo,
Werribee Park Mansion and gardens, and the adjoining Victorian State
Rose Garden are found on the southern fringes of Melbourne. A visit to the Air Force Museum at Point Cook
is another popular stop in the area.
